傳感領(lǐng)域

藍寶石光纖（Sapphire Fiber）獨特的物理特性使其可以被用于在極端惡劣的環(huán)境型進行采樣與探測。例如藍寶石光纖可以被插入內(nèi)燃渦輪發(fā)動機的燃燒室（the combustion chambers of internal combustion cylinders or turbine engines）中進行探測，以便人們對其進行光譜分析，從而得到關(guān)于燃料混合、流速及時間的數(shù)據(jù)。藍寶石光纖還可以被用于半導體加工中的fluorine plasmas工序中。

激光傳輸
Er:YAG 激光器產(chǎn)生的是 2.94 um的激光。這個波長的激光器常被用于外科手術(shù)及牙科手術(shù)中。因為藍寶石光纖極高的可靠性，以及無毒性，藍寶石光纖非常適合用于對這種2.94um的激光，是目前笨重的機械反射臂的最佳替代品（articulated arms）。
